CHRISTMAS CAROL in INDONESIA TERRITORY
Christmas Carol (the tradition of singing Christmas carols that tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ), is an activity that is held annually by The Salvation Army around the world, including Indonesia. The purpose is to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, share the message of hope, healing and joy to those who watch and listen, as well as to raise funds that will be used for those in need such as children living in Orphanages / Children's Social Welfare Institutions (LKSA), Oma and Opa living in Old Age Homes / Elderly Social Welfare Institutions (LKSLU), Education of children in rural areas and action services care for others (APS) for those affected by natural disasters.
Christmas Carol in the Indonesian Territory in 2024 was held in 8 cities namely Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Manado, Medan, Palu as well as several areas in Central and West Sulawesi. In collaboration with Bala Keselamatan partners, Christmas Carol was held in various places such as stations, parks and shopping centers such as: Jakarta (Batavia PIK, Millenium Mall, Gajah Mada Mall, The PIER, The WHARF, The DEN of Kalaha), Bandung (Braga City Walk), Surabaya (Lagoon Venue Mall, Pakuwon Mall, Royal Plaza, Tunjungan Plaza 3), Bali (Bali Galeria Mall), Medan (Cambridge Mall), Semarang (Paragon Mall), Palu (Palu Grand Mall), God Bless Park Tondano and several areas in Central and West Sulawesi.
The Christmas Carol event not only featured Christmas songs performed by the Officers, Cadets, the entire congregation of Salvation Army Church and children from LKSA but there were also Christmas dance performances, Brass band, Tamburen, Angklung and other creative arts.
FREE HEALTH SERVICES AT CHRISTMAS CAROL
Two (2) General Hospitals out of 6 General Hospitals managed by Bala Keselamatan Church are RSU. Bungsu, Bandung and RSU. William Booth, Semarang were also involved in the Christmas Carol activities by holding a health talk show, free medical treatment and examination as well as blood donation activities in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).
