Commissioner Yusak and Widiawati Tampai By God's grace, both Commissioner Yusak and Widiawati (Widi) Tampai were born in a simple village in Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Growing up in this remote village, with Bala Keselamatan as the only existing church to serve the villagers, was a privilege and therefore, they both praise God for being officers in the Indonesian Territory. Commissioner Yusak was commissioned in January 1993 from the Melbourne Training College, under the class name “Followers of Jesus”, with his first posting as finance staff at the territorial headquarters. Commissioner Widi was commissioned from Pusdiklat Jakarta in May 1997 under the banner of the “Messengers of Love” batch with his first posting as Assistant Corps Officer at Corps Polonia - Jakarta. Following their marriage in November 1997, the Tampai family served at territorial headquarters and also as Corps Officers until 2004, when they were posted as Administrative Officers and Personnel Assistant Officers at The Cedars, International College for Officers - Sydenham Hill, London. Upon their return home in 2006, Captain Yusak was appointed as Territorial Financial Secretary while Captain Widi served as staff at the Department of Education followed by a posting as Territorial Social Services Secretary. In 2010, Major Yusak and Widi were transferred to East Palu Division as Division Commanders, and from this posting, in June 2013, they were transferred for another International Service in London; Major Yusak as International Auditor and Major Widi as Corps Associate Officer - Staines Corps before being appointed as Program Officer - International College of Officers at Sunbury Court. While at IHQ, in December 2015, Major Yusak was appointed as Under Secretary for South Pacific and East Asia. The internationalism of the Salvation Army has enriched the lives and service of Commissioner Yusak and Widiawati Tampai. In September 2018, they celebrated the grace of God that had brought them back to the Indonesian Territory as they embarked on new roles as General Secretary and Secretary of the Territorial Women's Ministry. From this placement, starting July 1, 2019, they assumed their current responsibilities as Territorial Leaders for the Indonesian Territory. Commissioners Yusak and Widi see the grace of God in Christ Jesus as the fundamental reason why they were saved, called and privileged to serve the Lord in the Salvation Army. By that same grace, they have been blessed with three sons, Joshwill (married to Sara), Jefferson, and Jordan. By God's grace they also enjoy reading and studying, nature, traveling, futsal (for Yusak) and family fellowship. Their qualifications in systems analyst, theological studies and counseling were achieved by the grace of God. For these reasons, both Commissioners are passionate about seeing other leaders and followers of Jesus experience and grow in the grace of God and the knowledge of the LORD Jesus Christ.
